The Yule Ball Exploration

In January, we took the girls to a Yule Ball in Evansville, Indiana, which I just so happened to find out about and just so happened was the first of its kind! A Harry Potter-themed ball–how badass is that? Anyway, Nick and weren’t able to afford tickets in time, but I promised to get them there with their tickets having been bought early on. Instead, Nick and I decided to do some exploring around Evansville itself.

Though we started getting ready early (I did their hair and makeup as well as lent them some jewelry, shoes, and hair items to wear) we didn’t make it out the door until early afternoon and Evansville is about a two-hour drive from where we live. Lots of things were already closed by the time we got there and we knew we wouldn’t be able to stay the night shortly after arriving.

Once we got there and before dropping the two chillerns off we decided to hit up a comic book store, which was pretty cool! Shortly after, we dropped them off then went to grab a bite to eat at Gerst Haus, a German-American restaurant which resided in what used to be an old hardware store.

After some good eats, we went to our first ever brewery, Tin Man. Talk about cool decor. I was excited about how cool the place was, but I mainly went because Nick wanted to try. At first, I didn’t think I’d be trying anything, but boy was I wrong! And thank goodness too because I never would’ve learned that I liked sour beers! Tin Man’s sours were delicious, fruity, and perfectly sour.

After my first ever flight and some questions asked and answered, Nick and I headed to Bar Louie for a few before picking the chillerns up and driving home for the night.
